Glade Sowards

Friday, June 20, 2008

Glade, a Vernal, Utah native, has been playing in bands and writing songs since he was 13. His music has a comfortable, but still personal and engaging, feel to it.

By day, Sowards is the energy program coordinator with the Utah Department of Environmental Quality. "I'm in a suit at the Capitol," he says, "then... after work, I'm at Urban Lounge."

Glade has been a longtime fixture of Utah's acoustic-folk scene, and had this to say about the importance of supporting local music: "Go to local shows. Go to your friends' shows. Have a house concert. Pick up the guitar. Start a band. Start a label. Tomorrow we die."

Glade will share the stage this evening with fellow singer-songwriters: Stacey Board and Melissa Warner.
